Mari Lwyd & the Visit to Gwrych Castle

By

One fine day, Elowen and Mari Lwyd decided to pay a visit to the enigmatic Gwrych Castle. Armed with their cameras and a sense of curiosity, they sought to capture the ethereal beauty of the castle’s surroundings and perhaps engage in a conversation with the local spectres.

The castle loomed over them, its ancient stones seeming to whisper secrets of times long past. As they strolled along the castle grounds, Elowen and Mari Lwyd couldn’t help but marvel at the scenery. The landscape was dotted with remnants of history, and the air was filled with an almost haunting atmosphere.

Elowen turned to her spectral companion. “My friend, it’s a perfect day for taking pictures of the castle and its surroundings, don’t you think?”

Mari Lwyd, who was gazing at the castle’s imposing façade, nodded in agreement. “Indeed, Elowen. The scenery here is quite mesmerizing, and I’ve always had a fondness for old castles.”

As they continued to explore, Elowen paused to make a more personal inquiry. “I mustn’t forget to extend an invitation to you once again for my Yule gathering this year. You’ve never come before, but I always ask just in case.”

Mari Lwyd offered a spectral smile. “Elowen, I appreciate the invitation, but you know how we spectres are. We don’t usually enjoy traveling away from our haunting grounds.”

Elowen understood, her kindness undeterred. “I understand completely, Mari Lwyd. But know that there will always be a place for you at my home should you ever decide to make the journey.”

Mari Lwyd nodded appreciatively. “Thank you, Elowen. It’s a comforting thought, and I’ll certainly consider it. Your gatherings always sound so delightful.”

With that, they continued their exploration of the castle grounds, pausing to capture a picture together as they shared a moment of camaraderie. The air around them seemed to shimmer with both the peculiar and the extraordinary, and Elowen couldn’t help but feel grateful for the unique friendships that adorned her life.

As the day went on, they reveled in each other’s company, capturing the beauty of Gwrych Castle and its surroundings, and Elowen was content knowing that, whether or not Mari Lwyd chose to attend her Yule gathering, the bond between them would remain as strong as ever.
